Stone Sabbath

A Cornish-mythology-inspired Soulslike with PlayStation 1 style retro graphics made in 3 days for the 50th Ludum Dare game jam.

Stone Sabbath was our first attempt at creating a truly “open” space, and pushing our level design skills, guiding players by way of landmarks. This was also our first attempt at creating a melee combat system, with several fully-featured enemy types including a fully-realised boss fight that required different approaches to defeat, even with the rudimentary combat system.

We view Stone Sabbath as our greatest achievement, as the scope of work we managed to pull off in such a short period speaks volumes for what we can achieve as a team, and it seems others agree, as we received an award nomination for the Game Development World Championship game jam of the year!

Holy cow, I’m blown away by the size of the map. What an impressive world to build for three days. The graphics and audio are super charming, overall I’m very impressed.
